Patient Advocate: The Full Scoop
Meredith Millstone, BA
Advocate, Survivor, and Champion for Women's Health Meredith Millstone is a passionate advocate for women’s health, driven by her own recent and personal health journey. In May 2024, Meredith was diagnosed with double hormone receptor-positive breast cancer—a diagnosis that came early thanks to advanced screening beyond the standard annual mammogram. Recognizing Meredith’s unique set of risk factors, her primary physician took a proactive and personalized approach to her care. This thoughtful attention allowed Meredith to qualify for a breast MRI, an imaging modality that ultimately detected her tumor at stage 0, before it had metastasized. Her oncologist later confirmed that traditional mammography alone would not have identified the tumor until years later. Because of this early detection, Meredith was able to undergo a double mastectomy with reconstruction and avoid chemotherapy, radiation, and long-term hormonal medications. Deeply grateful for the compassionate and forward-thinking medical team that guided her, Meredith is now dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of individualized screening. She believes every woman deserves access to education about their personal risk factors and affordable, comprehensive screening option, including ultrasound and MRI, not just mammography. Her message is clear and heartfelt: early detection saves lives, and personalized care matters. Meredith is excited to be part of a growing initiative to ensure that women are informed, empowered, and supported with screening strategies tailored to their unique health profiles. “Let’s catch it early, ladies,” she says, echoing her commitment to proactive health advocacy. Professionally, Meredith has a background in the psychiatric and gastroenterology healthcare industries. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of South Carolina. She lives in Colorado with her husband, their two daughters, and their golden retriever, Moose. Outside of her advocacy work, Meredith enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, yoga, traveling, and creative expression. Membership: Cancer League of Colorado
