"Highlights:

  • Arsenic is a bona fide carcinogen for skin, bladder and lung cancers; however, the relationship between arsenic exposure and breast cancer risk is not clear.

  • Nationally representative survey data from the Canadian Health Measures Survey were linked to the Canadian Cancer Registry and Discharge Abstract Database to identify cancers.

  • Findings reveal that low levels of exposure to arsenic may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer."
