  • Nearly half of the women invited for breast cancer screening have dense breasts.

  • Breast density increases the risk of breast cancer and the likelihood that mammography will miss it.

  • Supplementary MRI detects 19 additional cancers per 1000 screenings in those with dense breasts.

  • Supplementary DBT and ultrasound detect only 2-3 additional cancers per 1000 screenings.

  • Contrast-enhanced mammography detected a similar number of additional cancers as MRI, based on a single study."
